This is a clip of my dialogue during the afternoon street units in Turin. Each week TAMPEP drives around the city, speaking with the girls who work on the street. This particular day, we were targeting our outreach to Nigerian girls…many of which have been trafficked into the country.
We saw many girls…too many girls…all in broad daylight. It broke my heart that this is what they felt they had to do….

Hi Leslie, kudos for doing what you are doing. It’s impressive because the previous holiday I took in Italy,(Milan to be exact)left me distraught at the perception Italians (especially Italian men) have of Black girls. I am currently writing my dissertation on gendered migration to Italy. My focus is on Edo state women migrating to Italy to become sex workers. I was perusing through Tampep’s website for information and I was pleasantly surprised to read your blog. It’s very detailed and insightful. Well done!!
