In the past three days I had the opportunity to interview the family of Rachel Corrie, who was killed by an Israeli military bulldozer in the Gaza Strip in 2003, and towitness the verdict of the civil lawsuit the family filed in 2005.
The family scheduled back-to-back interviews all day Sunday of which mine for the Alternative Information Center was second: after the Jerusalem Post and before the Associated Press. Set in the extravagantly decorated American Colony in Jerusalem and surrounded by lush gardens the mood was anticipatory; the Corries have been engaged in an almost 10-year diplomatic and legal process since Rachel’s death on 16 March 2003.
