Shannon Orcutt is an Advocacy Manager for Save the Children focused on protecting children in conflict with an emphasis on South Sudan, attacks on education, and children’s mental health and psychosocial support. Prior to joining Save the Children, Shannon worked in Uganda with the East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project, where she conducted research and advocacy on human rights defenders living in exile, attacks on the media, and the impact of elections on civic space. She has also worked on women’s economic empowerment in Uganda with the Advocacy Project and with the Save Darfur Coalition/United to End Genocide on civilian protection in Sudan and South Sudan. Shannon holds a M.S. in Peace Operations and B.A. in Global Affairs both from George Mason University.
