The Afghan Women’s Network has been working very hard to promote gender equity in sports for girls in Afghanistan. Next week, I plan on writing about the challenges AWN faced last year when it started a volleyball program in Peshawar, Pakistan and Jalalabad, Afghanistan and it’s plans to expand this program to include schools in Herat and Kabul as well.

Hi Saba, I’m interested in writing an article about your experience in Afghanistan. Instituting equality in women’s sports sounds interesting. If you could email me with your contact information, that would be wonderful. Thanks!

I agree! I think the volleyball program is a fantastic idea. I have read through some evaluations of the high school girls on the volleyball team, and all of them are just so excited about the program and are very thankful for having the opportunity to play.
