Get Involved:

Scores of activists have faced arrest, physical and verbal abuse and worse in the wake of the Royal coup on February 1, 2005. On that day, King Gyanendra suspended the democratically elected government and imposed military rule under his leadership. The authorities moved quickly to shut down the media and all methods of communication with the outside world. This was followed by the detention or house arrest of democratic leaders, Civil Society heads and student representatives. In addition, dozens of people have been killed.

FIND A PARTNER

The Advocacy Project develops partnerships with advocates on the frontline and with nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). In so doing, we take our cue from partners and tailor any support to their needs.
