"Recovering the Disappeared in Peru"

The exhumation of Peru's largest mass grave was completed in May at the remote village of Putis, high in the Peruvian Andes. Braving freezing conditions and drug traffickers, the Peruvian Forensic Anthropology Team (EPAF) spent two weeks extracting almost 60 skeletons and the remains of about 10 more bodies from the grave. Ash Kosiewicz, an Advocacy Project (AP) Peace Fellow working with EPAF, and Iain Guest, Executive Director of AP, spent several days at the site and took video footage of the process.
