AP offers several services that are aimed at strengthening community-based advocacy. These services have been developed during several years of working side by side with partners and responding to requests from AP partners. They are also designed to play to AP's strengths as a networking and advocacy catalyst. Except where stated otherwise, AP services are offered at no cost to partners.

As explained elsewhere on this website, most community-based advocacy groups face several impediments in getting their message out to the world. One of our services offers community-based partners the chance to disseminate their information through our online news service (AdvocacyNet) which reaches over 6,000 subscribers, and through this website.

A second service helps partners to make better use of information and communications technology (ICT). This starts by helping partners to understand their ICT assets and needs, and offers limited IT trouble-shooting. If necessary, we can also find an ICT trainer (eRider) to help a partner, for a fee.

Unlike conventional service-delivery organizations, The Advocacy Project does not have field offices around the world. To the extent that we implement projects, we do so with partners and through our fellowship program, Fellows for Peace. This program (formerly called "Interns Without Borders") recruits students from universities in North America and Europe to work as volunteers with AP partners. These fellows then continue to promote the message of the partner organization on their return home.

AP also produces occasional research papers that are related to our core mission and aimed at exploring different aspects of community-based human rights advocacy. AP welcomes inquires, and is seeking commissions.

Our final service offers training in advocacy. For the time being, this is being offered on a limited basis and for a fee. But in due course AP hopes to publish training modules, which will be available on the AP website.

FIND A PARTNER

The Advocacy Project develops partnerships with advocates on the frontline and with nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). In so doing, we take our cue from partners and tailor any support to their needs.
