A Voice For the Voiceless

The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities to tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change. We recruit graduate students to volunteer as Peace Fellows with partners.

The Impact of Service

"Speaking with locals and living in a country is the best way to learn about the real lives of citizens, not just the stories in the mainstream media. I will be more critical of what I read as a result of this experience. I also feel even more grateful for my education, and I feel a stronger responsibility to assist others who do not have resources or access to opportunities in their communities."

Maria Skouras (New York University) volunteered in 2011 as a Peace Fellow for eHomemakers in Malaysia.

Emilie Zigova, Emilie Horackova, and Renata Dufkova (Left to Right) worked with 2011 Peace Fellow Beth Wofford to create a Roma Advocacy Quilt in Mimon, North Bohemia, Czech Republic.

Since 1998, AP has partnered with 137 community-based organizations (CBOs) on all five continents. All current partners (2012) have a page on this website and we are working to produce pages on the rest. AP does not initiate partnerships, but we welcome inquiries from CBOs or other organizations on their behalf.
AP promotes the work of partners in North America and Europe. We also reach out to Universities and university programs to recruit Peace Fellows and enrich our work academically.

“This is the kind of North South partnership
that should happen to solve social environment
and poverty or human rights problems”

Chong Sheau Ching, Founder of the eHomemakers
