Who can become an AP partner?
Please refer to the partnership criteria.
Who cannot be an AP partner?
Who are your current partners?
Please see the complete partner listing on the right-hand side.
Do I pay a fee to join?
No. However, we do expect that partners fundraise jointly with us to raise money for joint or partner projects.
How do I apply for partnership?
Step 1: Please send an email to partnership [at] advocacynet.org with the following information:
Please attach your organizational logo (if one is available in electronic version) in bmp, jpg or gif format.
Step 2: AP will reply to all applicants to let them know that we have received their application within 30 working days.
Step 3: AP will review and make final decisions on partnerships on a quarterly basis (i.e. if you applied for partnership in January, we will review your application in April).
Step 4: AP will get back to all partners letting them know if we can pursue partnership opportunities with them or not.
Step 5: For all short-listed partners, AP will request more information (as needed).
Step 6: Once a partnership is agreed, AP and the partner will start work on a partner page on the AP site and move to a discussion about future cooperation.
Please note that AP receives a very large number of requests from good organizations every year. This means we can accept only a very limited number of new partners.
I was not accepted as a partner. Can I still apply next year?
Yes. AP aims to have a diverse range of partners. We encourage you to apply again after 12 months if your application was not accepted.
You accepted me as a partner. Will I automatically get an intern?
No. AP does not recruit interns and Fellows for all partners. To receive an intern, AP staff will first carry out a site visit of your organization and also seek additional information about your organizations’ ability to use an intern effectively. This service will typically NOT be provided to new partners as AP prefers to first establish a working relationship with partners before sending them an intern.
You accepted me as a partner. Will I automatically get ICT support and other services?
No. The only service that we guarantee is a page on our website. Whether or not we jointly develop services will likely depend on the partner’s enthusiasm and willingness to work with us, and provide us with regular information. Back

Why should I partner with AP?
AP helps partners to produce, disseminate and use information. Partnership brings important benefits:
- Membership of a global community: AP’s partners are committed to promoting and supporting social justice.
- Telling your story: Working through volunteers, we seek to help partners describe their advocacy and develop the capacity to produce information, free from dependency on expensive consultants.
- Promoting Your Work: We will create a profile of your organization that we will put up on our website and include in our annual report and other relevant publications.
- Spreading Your News: AP publishes news about community-based advocates through our online news service AdvocacyNet, which is sent to more than 6,000 individuals and organizations.
- Information and communications technology support: We help small and medium-size organizations understand their ICT needs, develop an ICT foundation, and integrate ICT into their advocacy.
- Support from a volunteer (Peace Fellow): AP recruits experienced graduates (Peace Fellows) to implement AP services. All AP partners are eligible to receive a Peace Fellow – but the actual number deployed will depend on our capacity.
- Funds: AP is NOT a grant-making foundation, but we do what we can to find donors for partners and develop joint projects. We also find that the most effective way to raise funds and attract donors is through promoting the message.
