Nitzan Goldberger and Alternative Information Center (AIC)
Nitzan Goldberger received her BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley. Since graduating, Nitzan has worked as a research assistant at The Nixon Center in Washington, DC. This summer, Nitzan will be interning at AIC in Israel, where she will be tracking the developments leading to the Gaza withdrawal. Nitzan was born and raised in Israel and is therefore very familiar with the area and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. She is excited to have the opportunity to be present for such an important event.
The Alternative Information Center is a Palestinian-Israeli organization which disseminates information, research and political analysis on Palestinian and Israeli societies as well as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, while promoting cooperation between Palestinians and Israelis based on the values of social justice, solidarity and community involvement.

The duties performed by Nitzan for the AIC included keeping abreast of current news coverage, collaborating with Ahmad Jaradat in Bethlehem on various articles, and writing a daily news brief on regional events. She also traveled in East Jerusalem with AIC employees to discuss cooperation possibilities and joint projects with other organizations.
Nitzan was in the Middle East during an eventful summer. While there she maintained a blog, on which she posted copies of articles she wrote for AIC. Her articles cover mounting hostilities between Palestinian militants and the Israeli army, Israeli zoning laws used to force Palestinians from their homes, expansion of Israeli settlements, and escalating violence affecting young and old all played out against the backdrop of Israeli plans for pulling out of the Gaza Strip in August.
