The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities to tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change. We recruit graduate students to volunteer as Peace Fellows with partners.

Kerry McBroom and Human Rights in Sri Lanka

American University Washington College of Law, and Université Paris X

Kerry will be working in Sri Lanka where she will be advocating for victims and survivors of human rights violations.

After designing her own major in International Human Rights at Cornell University, Kerry worked as a community organizer for Grassroots Campaigns in Washington D.C.  She is currently pursuing legal degrees at American University Washington College of Law and at Université Paris X.  In addition to working at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague, Kerry has worked for clients in Darfur, Cyrprus, and Uganda as a research assistant for the Public International Law and Policy Group (PILPG).  Kerry has volunteered in the New York State juvenile justice system and for human rights projects in Germany (post-conflict reconciliation), India (child rights), and Denmark (HIV/AIDS awareness).


Kerry is now working in France, advocating with the Council of Europe for Roma Rights in Strasbourg, France.
