Jennifer Hollinger and the Churches Against Sex Trafficking in Europe (CHASTE)
Jennifer Hollinger is a fellow for the summer of 2007 with AP’s partner organization CHASTE. Currently, Jennifer is pursuing a master’s degree in the Department of Government at Georgetown University and working as a graduate research assistant at the Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM).
At ISIM, she is involved in a project examining the trajectories of minors who were trafficked into the United States. Previously, she obtained a master’s of public and international affairs, with a concentration in international development, from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. Jennifer graduated magna cum laude from Bryn Mawr College and, during her junior year, had a fellowship in Copenhagen, Denmark with Humanity-in-Action which sparked her interest in international migration and human rights.
CHASTE was founded in 2004 and is a charity that actively works for the global eradication of Trafficking for Sexual Exploitation, the provision of practical care and support for those who have been trafficked, and the suppression of demand that drives the supply of women and children into the sex markets of Europe.
This summer, Jennifer will help CHASTE to conduct outreach for and support trafficking survivors in Albania, as well as develop a network of safe houses to secure the safety of women who have been trafficked for sexual exploitation.
She will also undertake research on the socio-economic conditions that result in trafficking in order to promote legislative and cultural change to ensure the protection of these girls and women. Jennifer plans to apply the knowledge that she gains this summer in her advocacy and research on the most vulnerable migrants.
