Dženo Association

The Dženo Association is an independent Roma media news and information service. Their website posts and disseminates news about issues concerning the Roma in Eastern Europe and also streams a Roma radio station, Radio Rota. The Dženo Association previously published a print magazine, Amaro Gendalos (Our Mirror), which is now available online.

Emphasis is placed on influencing international actions concerning the Roma people and increasing global awareness of Romany issues. The organization serves as an information center on the national and international level, helping to promote human rights for the Roma and an end to discrimination and racism.

Dženo was created in 1994 in response to the mass wave of Romany immigration out of the Czech Republic to Western Europe and Canada and the discrimination which this population continues to face throughout the continent.

The organization serves as a center for increasing awareness of Romany issues and the hardships faced by the traveling population, such as a lack of access to education and education, or a reliable source of electricity.  Dženo plays an important role in the dissemination of independent Roma media and information, and the eventual improvement of living conditions as a result of increased awareness.
