Experiences from 2007 showed that blogs can be highly offensive in some cultural settings. This will be addressed in the training. It also points to the need for more communication between the Fellows and their hosts about the value of blogging.

Blogging for Peace
Since the start of the program, interns and Fellows have been expected to post blogs on the AP website. This has grown into one of the most distinctive and popular features of the Fellowship program. Blogging seeks to:
- Provide a personal and readable account of the Fellow’s work and profile the advocacy of his or her host
- Air important issues which do not receive coverage by providing raw material for AP news bulletins, which are distributed to the mainstream and online media.
- Help partners to define and launch new campaigns
- Allow Fellows to express their feelings and air their frustrations. This is particularly important for Fellows who are posted in isolated, insecure areas.
- Build connections between Fellows and outreach partners in the United States.
- Encourage an online debate (through the comment function).
