The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities to tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change. We recruit graduate students to volunteer as Peace Fellows with partners.

The Impact of Service

"Speaking with locals and living in a country is the best way to learn about the real lives of citizens, not just the stories in the mainstream media. I will be more critical of what I read as a result of this experience. I also feel even more grateful for my education, and I feel a stronger responsibility to assist others who do not have resources or access to opportunities in their communities."

Arche d'Alliance

The mission of Arche d’Alliance is to promote peace and defend human rights. The NGO was formed in 1997 in response to the numerous human rights violations in South Kivu after the war in the DRC (1996-2003), which led to widespread human rights abuses and societal breakdown.

The NGO is involved in research, documentation of human rights violations, human rights education, legal aid to victims of rights violations, particularly disadvantaged children and female survivors of sexual violence and other forms of discrimination, and advocacy for legal reform to protect better the rights of women and children.

Struggling against impunity by giving free legal assistant to the disadvantaged
Providing civic education on democracy and responsible citizenship
Advocating for the abolishment of the death penalty

Fund for Global Human Rights

Child Rights: Advocates for children in the worst forms of child labor (child soldiers, forced labor), victims of child sexual abuse, children living with HIV/AIDS and displaced children.

Human Rights Research: Arche d’Alliance monitors, documents and carries out research on at-risk children, human rights violations, gender based violence and on socio-economic rights.
