Democratic Republic of the Congo
The mission of Arche d’Alliance is to promote peace and defend human rights. The NGO was formed in 1997 in response to the numerous human rights violations in South Kivu after the war in the DRC (1996-2003), which led to widespread human rights abuses and societal breakdown.
The mission of Association des Jeunes Femmes du Maniema (AJFMa) is to promote the awareness and respect for the International Declaration of Human Rights, to defend and protect women's rights, and to contribute to the promotion of civic education, democracy, justice and peace.
BVES' mission is to defend the rights of children in the Great Lakes region of the DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda. It works with children affected by conflict including children of refugees and internally displaced persons; non accompanied displaced children; victims of sexual violence; liberated/ demobilized child soldiers and street children.
Since its creation, le Centre National d’Appui au Développement et à la Participation Populaire (CENADEP) has worked to improve the well-being of the most disadvantaged classes by promoting these populations’ democratic expression, popular participation, and self-sufficiency. It also reinforces popular and grass-roots institutions, voluntary economic and social organizations, and the population’s capacity to impose an alternative to unfavorable development policies.
The organization Congolese Initiative for Justice and Peace (ICJP) is Congolese human rights organization specializing in justice and the active pursuit of peace.
Femmes Juristes Pour les Droits de la Femme et de l’Enfant (FDJF) works to promote and defend women’s rights by helping women understand the laws that were created to protect them. In so doing, they hope to put an end to the suffering and marginalization of women in the society.
The Research Center on Environment, Democracy, and Human Rights (Centre de recherche sur l’Environnement, la Démocratie et les Droits de l’Homme/CREDDHO) advocates for peaceful co-existence, good governance, and human rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
SOFEPADI’s mission is to promote and protect the rights of women and children. Operating in Beni and Ituri, SOFEPADI is actively involved in seeking justice for victims of the widespread sexual violence committed by militia and members of the DRC military.
SOPROP promotes awareness of and respect for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights through education and promotes peace and good governance through sensitizing the population to non-violence, the virtues of democracy, peaceful coexistence, and tolerance.
Kenya
Undugu's mission is to contribute to the socio-economic empowerment of street children, vulnerable youth and marginalized poor urban and rural communities in order to reduce poverty for the attainment of decent livelihoods.
Nigeria
WOCON monitors the status of women’s rights politically and socially, organizes resource centers for women’s groups in Nigeria, and works to educate the public on issues of women’s rights and welfare, focusing particularly on trafficking and child slavery.
Somalia
Hiran Women Action’s mission is to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable women and war affected societies in Somalia.
Uganda
RLP seeks to ensure fundamental human rights for all asylum seekers, refugees, and internally displaced persons within Uganda.
The World Peasants/ Indigenous Foundation's (WPIO) mission is to stop discrimination against pygmies and resource exploitation on their lands. Back
